Lift Sopot is Bulgaria’s best-known paragliding destination and one of the most attractive free-flying sites in the Balkans.

Located at the southern foothills of the Balkan Mountains and in the heart of the Rose Valley, Sopot offers outstanding natural conditions for paragliding, cross-country flying, thermalling and training. The main take-off site is easily accessible by chairlift, which takes pilots from the landing area to an altitude of 850 metres.

The area is popular with both experienced pilots and beginners thanks to its spacious take-off areas, convenient landing fields and excellent flying conditions throughout much of the year. During the main flying season, from April to September, Sopot offers strong thermals and excellent opportunities for long-distance cross-country flights. On calmer winter days, the conditions are also suitable for training and improving flying skills.

The main take-off site is wide, grassy and spacious, with east, south and west-facing launch directions. It provides safe and comfortable launching conditions and can accommodate a large number of pilots and teams. The surrounding area offers numerous reliable thermal triggers, making it particularly suitable for dynamic and varied flights.

Sopot is known not only for its outstanding flying conditions but also for the hospitality of the local community, which has welcomed paragliding pilots from Bulgaria and around the world for many years.
